Hot Wheels Dodge Challenger Drift Car Pearlescent Purple

Even standing still today’s Dodge Challenger Drift Car really looks like it’s drifting! The pearlescent paint is more like a Ghost Pearl and changes shades as you move it in the light. Experiencing this kind of paint on a full-scale vehicle is usually jaw dropping. Seeing it in this 1/64th scale Challenger by Hot Wheels is nothing short of Amazing! Capturing this car in one shade is also nothing short of impossible. With DODGE on the sides, MOPAR on the top, and M’s all around, the full body graphics will not let you down either. The silver interior with roll cage is also fantastic. It is not an interior color I have seen very often and it completes the package as it shines in any light. Go Hot Wheels! Go Mopar!! Go Dodge Challenger!!!

Hot Wheels '71 Dodge Challenger 440 Six-Pack With Shaker in Blue (1).JPG

Hot Wheels gets the checkered flag before it even leaves the box with this 1970 Dodge Challenger!

440 Six Pack, Shaker hood, Real rubber tires and an Awesome paint & decal combination help make this a Real jaw-dropper. Turn it over and it does not stop there with a detail painted metal base. By far one of my favorite Hot Wheels Challengers. This car is Heavy! In more ways than one. Oh, and about the variance between the year on the box and the year on the car - '70, '71 ...whatever it takes. The hood opens and shuts very neatly with the sound of metal on metal. I will let "The World's Coolest Car Company" fill in the rest.

Please read the box for more about this series.

"Motown muscle cars may have fallen out of favor in the mid-'70's, but 4-speed, big block, boulevard bruisers with maximum horsepower have remained popular among car enthusiasts to this day. The '71 Dodge Challenger with a 440 cid and three deuces burned its own chapter into the history books as one of the truly magnificent muscle machines."

Auto World 1970 Dodge Challenger RT 426 Hemi Shaker Plum Crazy (1).jpg

This Challenger of the Day is a very special Plum Crazy 1970 R/T with a 426 Hemi and Shaker hood. Like many, this is the Challenger of my dreams. Not sure where to begin...Every Challenger is special to me. Every scale, every detail, Everything Challenger for me!

Auto World's release of the July 2011 Hemmings Muscle Machine cover page Challenger has some really fine details. There are Chrysler and Dodge logos all over this sparkling purple Challenger. The paint reminds me of the sparkles I used to sprinkle on Elmer's glue as a kid. Sparkles everywhere! From the realistic wheels on a detailed frame to the white 'vinyl' roof this car has a lot to boast about. I could go on and on about the really cool R/T emblem on the front grille, the Muscle Machine license plate, or the body length white stripe. Oh, and don't get me started on the 426 Hemi. Because the real stand out here is definitely the Awesome Shaker hood! It clangs neatly in place with an alignment that is not often seen at 1/64th scale.

There is just something about a Shaker hood. I know a lot of people who, like myself, love the Shaker Hood! Thankfully Ken Mosier is one of these people. He restored the Original full sized car that has won many trophies and appeared on the cover of the July 2011 Hemmings Muscle Machine magazine. His attention to detail is certainly what makes him the Best of the Best when it comes to Challenger restorations/re-creations. Check out the links below to see what he had to work with to make this dream car a reality. Also check out the Auto World release to make this dream car a part of your reality!

Johnny Lightning 1970 Dodge Challenger RT 440 Magnum in Blue (1).JPG

Johnny Lightning's Celebrating Forty Years 1970 Dodge Challenger goes all out on the body details! Silver trim on the grille insert, front bumper, windows, sidelights, door handles, tail lights and front end just to get you started. The silver, black and red lettering is very finely detailed and stands out very well. The blue has a whole lot of flecks in it for a really great sparkle. The black body length side stripes and Dodge lettering on the hood's black decal along with the black interior seal the deal. Oh, and about the hood...it clangs shut with a resonating metallic sound that really gives it the feel of real. I would drive this car if it were 1:1 scale! I would drive it if I were 1:64 scale too!!

The Chrome rims on this Challenger are unlike most of the Challengers in my collection. I have not found out much about the alternate rims showing in the last two photos. If anyone know what either of these rims are called please email me at challengeroftheday@gmail.com

The words below are from the back of the package/card. Some things do get better with age!

"Some things get better with age, but for each of its 40 years Johnny Lightning has set the standard for authenticity and collecting excitement! With a keen eye for detail and acute hearing of what collectors wanted, Johnny Lightning embraces turning 40 and is looking forward to its next 40!"
