This is a story written by Paul M.
PART 1 - As you can tell by my email address (ss66chevelle@...com) I have not always been a Mopar guy. Through an inheritance, in 1997 when I was 23 years old I was able to buy a 1966 Chevelle Super Sport. The Chevelle was a numbers matching, unrestored survivor car. At 23 years old I felt like I was on top of the world! Then, in 2008 when I first saw the retro Challenger everything changed. While walking through the car show I was at I very excitedly told my wife that I loved that car and would one day own one. Fast forward seven years...
I finally got up the courage and told my wife that I wanted to sell my Chevelle and buy a Challenger. She told me absolutely not and said that I was CRAZY!! Finally, after a few months of persuasion she agreed saying that I could do what I wanted to do... That's all I needed to hear.
Everyday Brings New Challengers...What's Your Challenger Story?
PART 2 - Once I was given the OK to sell the Chevelle and buy a Challenger I began my quest. After several weeks of scouring the internet and all of the Chevy and Mopar sites I finally was able to find a buyer for my Chevelle and at the same time found a Challenger to purchase. Now all I had to do was figure out how to sell the Chevelle get the money and then purchase the Challenger with that same money. It was a task but it all worked out and I got it done! The final challenge for this entire quest was getting to Alabama to pick up my car!! So, my best friend drove me to the airport, I jumped on a plane, and was picked up by the current owner of the Challenger. Ronnie then picked me up at the airport and drove me 2 hours back to his house. Once I saw the Challenger, I am immediately knew that I had made the right choice. I was in love.
So, after a piece of homemade pecan pie, I jumped in my new car and proceeded to drive 1000+ miles home! Not only did I get to enjoy my Chevelle for 18 years, I have purchased a new car and I have also made a great friend in the process. Me and Ronnie continue to stay in touch ... Exchanging pictures of our cars and family.
